Visitor’s Guide to Top Sights in Lake Tahoe

There’s no shortage of things to do in Lake Tahoe, no matter what time of year it is. In the winter, visitors can hit the slopes at one of the many area ski resorts. Or they can go ice skating, cross-country skiing, or snowmobiling.

In the summer, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, fishing, and swimming. And of course, there’s always the option to simply relax and take in the stunning scenery.

There’s actually so much to do in Tahoe that it deserves two guides – one for winter and one for summer, but in an effort to keep things brief and informative, let’s dive into some of Embarc’s favorite locations and must-see attractions in Lake Tahoe.

While you’re planning the best way to see all the sights in Lake Tahoe, visit us at Embarc Dispensary and our friendly Guides will help you find the perfect cannabis products to pair with your adventures in Tahoe.

Here’s a round up of some of Tahoe’s main attractions:

Emerald Bay is one of the top sights in Lake Tahoe

1. EMERALD BAY

This picturesque location is definitely one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tahoe. And for good reason – it’s absolutely beautiful. Emerald Bay is home to Vikingsholm, a 38-room mansion that was built in 1929 and is now a museum.

Visitors can also enjoy hiking, kayaking, and swimming in the crystal-clear waters, or check out the elaborate mansion on the grounds.

2. SUGAR PINE POINT STATE PARK

This state park is a great place to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, picnicking, and swimming.

It’s also home to the General Sherman Tree, the largest living tree on earth measuring over 36 feet in diameter. We highly recommend forest bathing.

3. SQUAW VALLEY SKI RESORT

This world-renowned ski resort is a must-visit for any winter enthusiast. Squaw Valley is home to some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the country, and it’s also a great place to enjoy après-ski activities like ice skating, shopping, and dining, or a Almora Infused Preroll.

4. SAND HARBOR STATE PARK

This state park is one of the best places in Tahoe to enjoy a day at the beach. Like most of the natural sights around the Lake, visitors can go swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, and kayaking. Sand Harbor is also a great place to catch a sunset.

Ease into the evening with a Kiva Bliss gummy and enjoy the colorful, tranquil sunset over the mountains.

This year-round resort is an awesome place to enjoy a variety of activities, including skiing and snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking and golfing in the summer.

Northstar California is also home to a number of shops, restaurants, and bars, it’s a one stop shop and a good resort to stay at if you’re looking for a hassle-free vacation.

6. HEAVENLY MOUNTAIN RESORT

This large ski resort is located on the California-Nevada border and offers visitors stunning views of Lake Tahoe. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Heavenly Mountain Resort offers tubing, ice skating, and snowmobiling adventures right from their property. Ride the gondola to the top of the peak and take in the epic scenery.
