This week, we officially opened (opens in new tab) our doors in Woodland, marking our 17th location in California (and first in Yolo County)!

embarc Woodland (opens in new tab) embodies the partnership of two dedicated families: Jim and Josh Hilliard, a father and son duo who have dedicated nearly four decades to serving the Woodland community, and Lauren Carpenter and Dustin Moore, a wife and husband team from Sacramento with a passion for cannabis and a commitment to community-driven operations.

For Jim Hilliard, former City Councilmember and local owner, this venture represents something deeply personal. After watching cannabis help his son heal from PTSD following his service as a firefighter, he became committed to providing safe, tested cannabis to neighbors who need it.

What sets our cannabis dispensary apart is our genuine commitment to community investment. Since day one, we’ve invested 1% of our total earnings (nearly $2 million so far) back into the communities we serve. This means every cannabis purchase directly supports local projects chosen by Woodland residents through our unique Community Advisory Board model.

We’ve also committed to sourcing at least 15% of products from Woodland businesses, supporting local cannabis farmers and manufacturers. Plus, we even pay our employees for time spent volunteering in the community, a level of community engagement that’s rare in retail.

Our Woodland location is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., serving adults 21 and older with a valid government-issued photo ID. With free parking and a convenient location, we’re designed to serve the greater Sacramento Valley, including Davis, West Sacramento, and surrounding communities.
