Haggin Museum

World Peace Rose Garden

Stop and smell the roses—literally—at Stockton’s World Peace Rose Garden. Tucked inside University Park, this tranquil green space features colorful blooms, sprawling lawns, and a picturesque lake. Admission is free, making it an ideal place to post up with a picnic, soak in the California sunshine, and contemplate the universe (or what you’re getting for dinner).

Where To Satisfy The Munchies

Here’s a fun fact: Stockton was named America’s most diverse city in 2020. This cultural melting pot is on full display in the city’s dizzying array of cuisines. Stockton has a significant Filipino population and is home to the Filipino American National Historical Society Museum. Best Lumpia is an awesome spot to dig into some classic Filipino fare. In addition to the golden, crispy lumpia, you can get a filling order of pancit (noodle dish) or zesty pork adobo. This restaurant is to-go only, so grab some takeout and hit the waterfront to enjoy!

Garlic Brothers

If a waterfront view is calling your name, check out Garlic Brothers on Embarcadero Drive. The menu features pizza, pastas, and tacos on Tuesdays. You can also snag breakfast on the weekend before your day on the Delta.

Arroyo’s Cafe

Arroyo’s has been a Stockton mainstay for 80 years. Locals love the homemade tortillas, rich enchiladas, and stellar service. They also serve homemade flan for dessert if the munchies are hitting you extra hard (or take it to go and save for after your late-night sesh).

Stockton Retail Therapy

Stockton has a little bit of everything to meet all your shopping needs (and a new embarc location for your cannabis wish list). The undisputed hot spot is for sure the Miracle Mile, a historic, pedestrian-oriented shopping district that runs along Pacific Avenue. But that’s not the only game in town: you could also head to Lincoln Center Shops for a more mall-like experience. Here are some of the best places to check out.

Puffy’s Thrift Mercantile

If you’ve never experienced the greatness that is thrifting while high, consider this a sign. Puffy’s Thrift Mercantile is a great spot to start. Locals say this boutique second-hand store is well curated, features a good mix of quality and kitsch, and boasts reasonable prices. Give yourself plenty of time—you’ll want to explore every nook and cranny.

Al’s Comic Shop

Stockton, CA, is the official hometown of the Fantastic Four, Marvel’s elite super team. Where better to embrace your inner superhero than Al’s Comic Shop? This independent comic book store has been a Central Valley staple for decades, with fans of new, vintage, and out-of-print comics flocking in from around the state. Reviewers like the atmosphere, saying you’re welcome to browse and take your time—perfect for when the gummy kicks in and you find yourself three issues deep.

Before venturing out of Miracle Mile, pop into Dragonfairy for all your metaphysical needs. Get those crucial crystals, incense, and herbs sorted in the shop with the help of the knowledgeable staff. The hours do tend to change, so be sure to look online before popping by.

Friends of the Stockton Public Library Bookstore

Libraries are the coolest. Saving money and the planet by buying used? Even cooler. Peruse a wide selection of books, records, DVDs, and even board games at the Friends of the Stockton Public Library Bookstore on Hammer Lane.
