Our Favorite Mexican Restaurants in Fresno

One of the more beautiful aspects of living in California, and more specifically, the Central Valley, is the amazing impact Mexican culture and cuisine have had on the area. At Embarc Fresno, we love ourselves some fire Mexican food to curb our munchies, and we feel blessed to be literally surrounded by some of the best available in the entire country. We thought that it would be fun to share some of our favorites with you to try out the next time you’re craving some good eats.

TACOS, TACOS, TACOS

Everybody loves tacos! They’re delicious, portable, and did we mention they’re delicious? Who needs more reasons than that to be a fan of this perfectly executed Mexican staple. Here are a few of our favorites who are absolutely crushing the taco game.

Taqueria Don Pepe

We cannot stress enough how badly you need Taqueria Don Pepe in your life. This place shows up a few times in different categories for a reason. They’re killing the game on all fronts. What makes a taco from Don Pepe’s unique is the inclusion of whole beans in their tacos, adding another dimension and vehicle to absorb all the wonderful flavors.

If beans aren’t your thing, have no fear, they’ll leave them off if you’d like them to. They have a wide variety of meats available, including a spicy shrimp taco that is something of a legend. Next time you’re in our store picking up some of your favorite cannabis products, make sure to hop over next door for the best taco in town.

Taqueria El Premio Mayor

El Premio Mayor is no slouch when it comes to cranking out some fire tacos and much more. They’ve actually won a local taco competition or two, so they come with some credibility in their resume. Offering a wide variety of meats to go inside their tacos, we recommend trying them all. Don’t be scared to go for the lengua or tripas either, you don’t know what you’re missing until you try it!

El Premio Mayor does it right with quality all the way from start to finish. We love that they offer other great menu items to eat if we’re feeling like switching it up to a torta or sopa. Next time you’re in the area or have the munchies from any of the great products we offer at Embarc, make sure you consider El Premio!

BEST BURRITOS IN TOWN

So maybe you’re not feeling tacos, and a burrito sounds more like your speed. Well, good news, we’ve got you covered there too. We love a good burrito at Embarc, tacos are great, but variety is the spice of life, and we like to switch it up occasionally too. Here are our recommendations for some fire burritos that are sure to hit the spot.

Taqueria Don Pepe

We had to put Don Pepe’s on the list, not just because they’re next door, but because they’re truly putting out great Mexican food that we crave daily. Their burritos are no exception. Same as the tacos, Don Pepe’s offers a wide variety of meat options to fill your burrito. They have a regular, which is just meat and beans, or a super burrito that has meat, beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, and avocado.

Believe it or not, just like the taco, they also make an amazingly good spicy shrimp burrito. It’s a true shop favorite. When it comes to Mexican food Don Pepe has you covered. What are you waiting for? Get yourself some of this fire!

Sal’s

A true Fresno staple, Sals is cranking out some top-shelf burritos. Available for dine-in or take-out orders, Sals has a burrito for everyone’s taste. Whatever you choose, they surely will not disappoint. However, our go-to burrito is the Karl’s Burrito. Short ribs, beans, rice, and cheese wrapped inside a warm tortilla and smothered in a sauce with an insane amount of flavor and even more melted cheese on top is the makeup of this monster.

Don’t let the size scare you away, it makes for some fire leftovers. Two munchies solutions in one!

This restaurant on the northeast side of town knows their burritos. Also available for dine-in eating or take-out orders, this Fresno gem has an extensive menu with a burrito section that is sure to impress.

Whatever burrito that you go with, you will not be disappointed. Just make sure you don’t sleep on their chimichanga, it’s a favorite of the shop. If you’re in the area or just want a burrito that’ll fill you up and some make sure you swing by Casa Corona!
